Pressure Washing Concrete the Right Way
Concrete tends to be more durable than other materials, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t need careful cleaning. To safely and effectively wash your commercial property’s concrete surfaces, follow these tips:
Inspection
Before beginning the pressure washing process, Superb Softwash first conducts a thorough inspection of the premises to determine if there are any existing cracks or other damages. We then provide you with a property inspection report and a quote to repair.
Preparation
Remove any loose dirt or debris from the concrete surface. Make sure to cover or set aside any furniture or plants to protect them from the process. Any openings, such as doors and windows, must also be covered.
Degreasing
Concrete surfaces can accumulate grease and change the effects of pressure washing. Therefore, it’s important to spray a degreaser on the concrete and use a stiff brush to scrub it onto the surface prior to pressure washing.
Detergent
The right detergent can loosen stubborn dirt, mold, grime, and other pollutants. We use eco-friendly proprietary detergent mixtures and spray them on the concrete surface at a distance of 8 to 18 inches. Then, we allow it to stand for a few minutes to give it time to knock filth loose.
Pressure Level
Use the correct pressure level — about 2,500 to 3,000 PSI — to effectively clean your concrete surfaces without inflicting damage. For more fragile concrete surfaces, we use a soft washing technique.
Nozzle
For the right balance, it is recommended to use a 25-degree nozzle tip, maintaining a minimum of 8 inches from the surface, to clean your concrete surfaces. If more power is needed to remove particularly stubborn filth or stains, move the nozzle closer to the surface, about 3 to 4 inches.
Sealant
To complete the process, apply a waterproof sealer to keep your concrete surfaces looking clean and fresh for a longer period of time. Allow the sealant to sit for 24 hours before using or touching the concrete surface again.
